Project Description

Kitchen refurbish & alteration

The client specification covered 2 aspects, firstly, a bigger, more user friendly cooking appliance, and secondly, a breakfast bar to create a “sociable” atmosphere in the kitchen area of the open plan, ground floor of the converted maltings property.

The Rangemaster had already been on the clients shopping list so the design was built around this, thus we removed a set of existing drawer units and a gas hob to accept the unit. This also meant the granite worktops had to be removed and taken off site to be re cut and finished to abut the Rangemaster.

The tower unit that housed the integrated oven & microwave, was then replaced with a new identical unit incorporating a pull out larder unit for increased storage space.
One problem we faced , due to the age of the existing kitchen, was finding an exact match for the new door & draw fronts, The closest match we, ourself & the client, deemed unsuitable as the slight colour difference varied in different light conditions. After trying various different colour doors, and discussing different options, including changing all old doors to match new, a decision was made on a light green door matching in style with the existing.

The new breakfast bar incorporated a set of 1000mm drawers to replace the set that were lost in place of the Rangemaster, with two cupboards either side for general storage, topped with a new silstone granite breakfast bar.
